"PARENT SCIENCE LETTER"
Mr. Hoffman, Yellow 6 Science, Weber Middle School

Dear Yellow 6 Parents,

Your child has made it through their first few days of middle school and so did you! Sometimes too many days go by before parents and teachers can communicate with each other. I am requesting your help in providing a small bit of information that will help me to know about your child directly related to their science performance or experience.

Below is a short form that asks you to provide your contact information as well an opportunity for you to tell me about your child's science experience in the "Parent Science Letter."

Please complete all questions below in the safe and secure form by TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 8, 2026. If you have twins (or triplets or quintuplets) in Yellow 6, just complete the form below ONE TIME, include all children's names, and include separate paragraphs with their names in the Parent Science Letter. If you have any questions you can email me at BHoffman@portnet.org.

Thank you for your early support and I hope to meet you at Open School Night (AKA Open House) on Tuesday 9-29-26 @ 6:30pm. Just look for the coolest science classroom you've ever seen.

Sincerely,

Mr. Barry Hoffman, Y6 Science
Parent Name, Phone #, and Email Address to be reached DURING THE SCHOOL DAY (list in the order that you’d like to be contacted). Please type the email addresses correctly to ensure important emails get to you.*

PARENT #2

Below is the PARENT SCIENCE LETTER. Please type any information that you think would help me understand your child better to help him or her achieve greater success in science this year. The purpose is to learn how I can best provide a serious yet fun environment for your child that will enhance their science experience while we are together for the next 10 months.

Include any of the following in your writing (science only):
*Past successes or difficulties
*Amount of science you feel they learned last year in Grade 5
*Science goals
*Specific science strengths or weaknesses
*Extra optional science experience if any (enrichment)

That wasn't so bad, was it? Mr. Hoffman has been doing this Parent Science Letter to start the last 26 school years, and it has received positive feedback from the Port parents for the early connection. I appreciate you spending your time to write and help me know your child quicker. Let's rock this first year of middle school science.
